How often do you wish there were more hours in a day? Do you feel like you just have too much to do? Perhaps its because your personal energy is leaking. It happens to everyone.
Here’s a tip that will shore up some of your energy leaks, give you more free time, and help you feel more focused and positive: Stop complaining. Yep. It’s that simple. No more complaining. Simple, but not easy for most. You’re gonna have to monitor yourself every day for awhile, to overcome the habit of complaining. It is a habit. A deep-seated habit.
How many times a day do you complain? “There was a lot of traffic.” “The bus was late.” “It’s so hot!” “Can you believe this rain?” “I have, like, 100 emails in my inbox!” “My daughter needs me to bake 4 dozen cookies tonight.” “My feet hurt.” “My back hurts.” “My head hurts.” “Can you believe what she did?” “My husband has a cold.” “The copy machine is on the fritz again!” And that’s before 10:00 a.m.
Complaining is one of the things that’s sucking your positive energy. Because complaining is a negative pleasure. We love to complain. We love to rally people around us – so they can complain, too, or just feel sorry for us. And yet, we know that complaining never does any good. I know some of you will argue about that – like when you complain about your meal, and the restaurant buys your dessert. We’ll address that in a later post.
Are you up for the 30-day challenge? No complaining for 30 days. When someone complains to you, you need to change the subject, say nothing, or walk away. You don’t get to initiate any complaints yourself. It’s gonna be tough. If you catch yourself in a complaint, you start the 30 days again. Kinda scary, isn’t it?
After 30 days, when not complaining is your new habit, you will be AMAZED at how much positive personal energy you’ll have access to. And this is just the tip of the energy iceberg. More to follow.
